I've never had fresh roasted chiles in my chili. Sounds good.

They are good... but can be painful

Out here I usually buy a gunneysack (or two...or three) of fresh chili, and have it roasted. But once you get it home it still needs to be peeled, de-seeded and chopped.

If the chili has any heat you only get partway through the bag before your hands are on fire.

and you usually regret all the tasting the next day.

Now that you mention it, I remember cutting fresh chiles once. And, while I was crying from the pain emanating from my fingertips, my friends telling me that I should have worn gloves or held the chile with a towel.

I have not yet seen the berry tarts at Costco, but if there's a marionberry one, I'm game.
