Softball coach (and good friend) of a coworker...

Today's post is more serious. Anyone who's led here, please do not allow my other posts to dissuade you from taking this post seriously. I don't represent the family, I'm just a friend of a friend. My friend (coworker) has been dealing with calls from the wife all week. She's hysterical (I would be, too). I can't imagine having to cope with this tragedy and all that will ensue. The reality of the financial burden alone would probably bring me to my knees, but all without your partner by your side? He's still out of it, in ICU, fighting for his life. He's supposed to make a full recovery, but right now she's been without him, without his conversation, without his touch, without him at night when she climbs under her covers.

Please read the following story, know that I'm not just passing along some circulating spam; this is happening and this struggle is as real as you and me.

"An ill-fated event occurred on Saturday, August 6th, leaving Tom Garry fighting for his life. He was involved in an ATV accident that caused internal bleeding requiring over 5 hours of surgery. After being resuscitated twice and needing 50 units of blood, Tom’s fighting spirit prevailed.
He is currently at Emanuel Hospital in ICU where he has a long road to recovery. Your thoughts and prayers for Tom and his family would be deeply appreciated.
This unfortunate accident occurred while Tom’s family was between medical policies leaving him uninsured. And, as many of you know, Tom is self-employed and will not be able to return to work for quite some time. In hopes of offsetting some of the financial burden for Darsi and her children, a fund has been set up at Washington Mutual in Tom Garry’s name. Here is a link to their website http://www.wamu.com/personal/default.asp.
It is always nice to give back to someone who has given so much to others. Please remember…no amount is too small.

Please forward this email to your friends and family.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
– Helen Keller"

So, Internet, if you can afford $1, $5, or $100...or if you really don't have funds, but feel like sending your thoughts and prayers, I will get them to Tom and Darsi. Email me at endingsblog at hotmail dot com.

Thank you for taking the time.
